چکیده
Abstract Narrowly endemic species are particularly vulnerable to catastrophic events. Compared widespread species, they may also be less capable of adapting shifts in environmental pressures as a result specialisation on narrow range local condition and limited ability disperse. However, life-history traits, such preferential outcrossing high fecundity can maintain genetic diversity evolutionary potential, boost resilience. The endangered Grevillea bedggoodiana (Enfield Grevillea) is an understorey shrub restricted area ca. 150 km 2 south-eastern Australia with legacy large-scale anthropogenic disturbance. Prior this study little was known about its biology population structure. Here, breeding system assessed through controlled pollination experiment at one central populations, eight populations were sampled for analysis microsatellite markers. found preferentially outcrossing, no evidence limitation. In most allelic richness, observed heterozygosity gene (Ar: 3.8–6.3; H o : 0.45–0.65, e 0.60 − 0.75). the inbreeding coefficients significant least four ranging from F i -0.061 0.259 despite rates. Estimated reproductive rates varied among but independent inbreeding. Despite small geographic range, species’ showed moderate differentiation (AMOVA: ST = 0.123), which largely attributable isolation by distance. We interpret these results suggesting that G. reproductively healthy has maintained levels recent

Development and cross-species amplification of microsatellite markers from the endangered Wee Jasper Grevillea (Grevillea iaspicula, Proteaceae)
Grevillea iaspicula is a highly restricted species occupying limestone outcrops near Wee Jasper, New South Wales (Australia). To allow future assessment of the ecological processes shaping the structure of G. iaspicula populations, seven polymorphic microsatellite (SSR) loci were developed from a partial genomic library. Amplification and polymorphism of six previously derived G. macleayana SSR...

Somatic mutations contribute to genotypic diversity in sterile and fertile populations of the threatened shrub, Grevillea rhizomatosa (Proteaceae).
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Grevillea rhizomatosa is a spreading shrub which exhibits multiple breeding strategies within a narrow area in the fire-prone heathlands of eastern Australia. Reproductive strategies include self-compatibility, self-incompatibility and clonality (with and without sterility). The close proximity of contrasting breeding systems provides an opportunity to explore the evolution ...
متن کاملThe relationship between climate change and the endangered rainforest shrub Triunia robusta (Proteaceae) endemic to southeast Queensland, Australia
Threatened species in rainforests may be vulnerable to climate change, because of their potentially narrow thermal tolerances, small population sizes and restricted distributions. This study modelled climate induced changes on the habitat distribution of the endangered rainforest plant Triunia robusta, endemic to southeast Queensland, Australia. Species distribution models were developed for ea...
